Mercedes Unimog
Powered by a six-cylinder Mercedes diesel truck engine producing 150 horsepower. This is a very versatile vehicle that was originally designed for military use for the German armed forces. This example has been built to agricultural specifications.

bfs_unimog_med.jpg (19619 bytes) This agricultural specification includes the ability to mount farm equipment on the rear, front and bed of the vehicle. Equipment mounted to the front might be a snow plough and lights for example, whilst on the rear a seed drill or light plough could be fitted.
Being originally designed as a military vehicle, its cross-country performance is phenomenal. With 32 gears, four-wheel drive and air operated differential locks its only drawback is its high weight, and the relatively small tyres that can be fitted, when compared to those used on tractors. bfs_sidemog2.jpg (11858 bytes)
bfs_mercedes.jpg (18835 bytes) We mainly use the Unimog for grain haulage because of its high speed and suspension. It is also used as a general medium weight haulage vehicle to transport spray and fertilizer to the other equipment out in the fields.
